Sonya Gonzalez started playing the violin at age 8. She did not expect to wake up one morning at age 45 and say to herself "I want to be an artist!" She signed up for a class taught by an abstract artist who encouraged her to express herself freely with as many colors as she wanted. Having started as an abstract artist, she moved to representational art. Sonya's art is inspired by nature, music, family, humorous situations, faces and the Hispanic culture. She is known for sharing vibrant colors, and capturing the whimsical side of life. Her work is frequently described as “Chagally”.
