RICHARD NITSCHKE
"If variety is the spice of life, I have been blessed with a full palette of flavors. I studied Art and Engineering, and after working in the Commercial Construction field for many years, I am returning to the Arts that I studied when I was younger: Ceramics, Sculpture, Music, Writing.....but I am happiest when out taking photographs in the country.
I grew up in the Texas Hill Country and live here now. Most, if not all, of the photographs on this site were taken on the property where I live and photograph daily. I photographed most of the subjects on a daily basis over several years under many different light conditions.
I did some photographing in the days of film but have spent the last three years immersed in the digital world of photography. The immediacy of digital allows me to experiment more that I ever could have with film. It has led me down a path to Abstract Landscape Photography.
I tend to push the limits of light: shooting into the sun, overexposing, underexposing, etc., in order to capture "hidden" compositions. I try to concentrate on only two things when I photograph: Light and Design."
