About the Author: John Philip Newell is a Scottish poet, peacemaker, and scholar with a passion for peace among the great wisdom traditions of humanity. He is internationally acclaimed for his work in the field of Celtic spirituality, having authored over 15 books, including Listening for the Heartbeat of god, Christ of the Celts: The Healing of Creation, and his most recent visionary work A new Harmony: the Spirit, the Earth, & the Human Soul.

About the Artist: Tobi Kahn is a Painter and a sculptor whose work has been shown in over forty solo exhibitions and over sixty museum and group shows since he was selected as one of nine artists to be included in the 1985 Guggenheim Museum exhibition, New Horizons in American Art. Kahn's fascination with the power of art for healing led to the creation, in 2001, of a permanent installation commissioned by the HealthCare Chaplaincy of New York. For thirty years, Kahn has been steadfast in the pursuit of his distinct vision and persistent in his commitment to the redemptive possibilities of art.

This new American edition of Sounds of the Eternal has an edited preface by John Philiip Newell and new illustrations by the artist, Tobi Kahn. The essential goodness of creation and of the human body, affirmed in the opening pages of the Bible, is foundational to both Jewish and Celtic Christian spirituality and their understanding that the spiritual is inseparably interwoven with the physical.
Drawing on the insights of these ancient traditions, these prayers invite us to rediscover the mystery of God's image within - the wisdom, strength, beauty, and creativity, eternity, and presence of the divine within the human. (book summary, picture shown)
