TERRY GAY PUCKETT
This amazing world inspires me to create with color, shape, and symbolism. I select a medium that seems best to tell the story, whether it be watercolor, acrylic, collage, or vitreous glass on metal. Each design is a puzzle to be resolved, and the pieces are shifted until everything slides into place.
Born in Amarillo, I have lived in San Antonio my entire adult life, working as an artist. I came to San Antonio two years after graduation from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.F.A. My first job was teaching at the Southwest Craft Center. This led to a faculty position at St. Phillip's College, after completing a Masters of Art degree at West Texas State University. While at St. Phillip's College, I co-founded the Art Department and eventually became a Professor Emeritus.
My art work has been influenced by trips that I arranged for artists and art lovers to Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, Honduras, and most recently, Cuba. I was honored to be named Artist of the Year in 2009 by the San Antonio Art League and Museum. Twenty-four of my works are in the Robert B. Green Clinical Pavilion Collection. My liturgical enamel designs are at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, and a watercolor of the Texas Theatre sign rests in the time capsule at the San Antonio Museum of Art.
Sharing the love of art with others is my gift from our Creator.
